Hi! Not necessarily- another option is to use SmartShare. LG SmartShare screen will cast your smartphone, tablet, and PC on the TV display. There is 1 caveat- it will only work on Android Devices and Windows PC. (Apple does not support this technology, so iPhone and iPad users will have to use Google Chromecast). ^Chris
