You said there is a USB port next to the HDMI port and it is in the vertical position but clearly, if you look at the pictures, there is none (despite what the manual says). What's up with that?? null

The USB port is not on the section in your photo. It's adjacent to that and faces to the side so you can't really see it from the angle of that photo. But it *is* there.
