Hello Cornfussed, I have owned my washer/dryer unit since June 2018, and use it every few days, I have never noticed a “weird chemical smell.” I wonder if these people have made the grave mistake of using dryer sheets in their machines?! Due to the non-vented evaporation drying style of this machine, dryer sheets are a big “No No!” They can reak all sorts of havoc in these machines. Another possible cause, could also be if they are not using the detergent dispenser cups correctly & over-filling or filling the wrong dispenser. The last possible cause of a smell during drying is if you are not routinely cleaning the gasket door seal, or the water & link drains at the bottom left corner of the machine. I wipe down the inside of the window & door gasket after every load, I’m obsessive, and I empty the drains after every 4-5 loads. I also use the “Tub Clean” mode about every 1-2 months. This has kept my machine running in near perfect, “fresh from the factory” condition.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have no experienced chemical smells. But the dryer gets really hot.
