“My remote is not controlling my sound bar is this a normal problem or is it something I need to do Or turn on I tried new batteries I have an LG so I can turn it up and down but that’s it”

It's counter-intuitive but try clicking the button that looks like the end of an electric cord. This will change the bar's "input source" and/or will access the bar's "Home Dashboard." One or the other will allow you to change the bar's sound, if that is what you are trying to do.
