We appreciate your feedback regarding reflections on your 50UM7300PUA as well as picture quality. Many times picture quality troubles can be resolved with a few tweaks to the settings. We have a help library article that recommends the settings for getting the best picture settings: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000018-20150577528034-menu-settings If you're in need of some guidance with using your TV, please head to our support page at @LGUSSupport on Twitter or you can give us a call at 800-243-0000 so a specialist can help out. ^CP
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 50 inch appears to be a VA panel, the 49” is an IPS. Odd, yes. Better viewing angles from an IPS, better blacks and contrast from a VA. Kinda feels like some of this important info info was, Idunno, kept from the consumer? The 50” is cheaper than the 49”, which SHOULD have been an indication... I feel ya, same thing here.

Our 50" UM7300 (supposedly with 'VA' panel) has great and surprisingly what appears to be an undiminished picture quality when viewed at wide viewing angles, or 'the left and right.' As well, noticeable reflections on our 50" UM7300 are very low, to where I would rate it as actually having very good 'reflection handling.' In fact, the kind of good wide-viewing and low reflection panel & picture qualities....the caliber of which you read about pertaining only to)from IPS panels, (from what I've read at rtings dotcom). But ours also seems to have very good contrast & brightness levels. So what's up with that? Does our 50" UM7300 actually have a VA panel? Or did it get built with an IPS panel? Which would seem unlikely as just the 50" & 60" UM7300 panels are reported to be VA panels. There's no VA or IPS panel designation on either the box or label on back of tv that I'm aware of. Anyways, our 50" UM7300 has an excellent overall picture quality; both wide-viewing wise, and reflection handling wise. We purchased it for an elderly family with several impaired vision; both Macular Degeneration & Glaucoma, etc. After reading that very high contrast levels & brightness & low reflection qualities are of paramount importance for tv viewers with impaired vision, (according to an MIT Technology Review that I read online, called 'TV for the Visually Impaired' by researchers at the Schepens Eye Research Institute). To recap; for a budget 4K tv in the low-to-mid $300 price bracket.....we think it's an excellent tv, and are super happy with our choice of the 50" (supposedly VA panel) UM7300 LG.
