“When connected to a sound bar is there a tv option to turn the tv speakers off and only control volume using the sound bar? If yes, does the connection type matter? I have an older Boston Acoustics teepee sound bar with optical input I’d like to use. TIA”

Hi, you can connect this to soundbar and you need to turn off the TV speaker by putting the setting sound out on the menu. In LG TV and LG soundbar, you can set up the magic remote to control the volume of the soundbar using the magic remote. You can check if your sound bar and TV can be paired on the magic remote. This model includes magic remote and this has Digital Audio Output (Optical), HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC): eARC and HDMI Input (HDCP 2.2). Please check the specs. ^Vanessa
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can turn the speakers off to use the sound bar. I do the same and use the sound from my surround sound amp and setup. Yes it has an optical out ( I use the HDMI connection for the sound)
