Can you mount this model on the wall with a standard VESA bracket as opposed to the proprietary one? null

Yes, you can. That's what we did. We had a Sanus Universal Low-Profile Tilt mount attached to the wall from our old TV. He took off the old one, and hung our new LG in less than 60 seconds. The proprietary mount included with the set will get it flush with the wall, if you're concerned with that sort of thing, but it certainly is not necessary. The TV is bonkers amazeballs btw.
