• Yes, it does require a receiver for Klipsch 5.1 system. You will connect optical cable from Projector to Receiver. While playing you will select the appropriate input in your Receiver.

• The projector has audio output. If you use a receiver when the the speaker of an external audio device is operating at the same time there will be an echo. ^Daphane
