“When starting the projector up, it goes straight to live tv which we do not have. This in return goes straight to static noise which is very annoying. Is there a way to have the opening screen start on another option?”

yes but if you set an antenna to this project it will automatically connect to channel you setup or use the HDMI cable and set the HDMI to primary
