Logitech harmony 665 universal remote is a bit idiosyncratic, but once you get used to it, it really saves batteries and your temper. Without it, I would be trying to select 2 or 3 different controllers (out of seven) and going thru their menus. Can't be beat for the price.

My smart remote from the OLED b7a does work for this player - the basic play/pause and arrow keys that is. I tend to use the players remote when watching a movie as it will control the TVs sound (even pass that volume control through to my receiver).

Your Blu-Ray player's remote may be able to be programmed to control your LG TV. You can find information regarding this in the owners manual on page 45. http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-UP970 ^CP
