Yes the mouse will work that distant, I know my laptop is on shelf connected to the main TV, and I can control it from the chair 8 foot away, The mouse will work on any surface, pants, pillow, skin, carpet, books what ever it glides over.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unless you have several nano devices in the same area, you will have no difficulty using this at 7 feet. I have noticed that occasionally if multiple nano devices are in use in close proximity, interference can be an issue at longer distances.
