• I would return it or contact Logitech under the manufacturers warranty. The mouse isn't meant to be opened up

• There are 4 Philips-head screws on the bottom. Remove theses and the bottom should come off to allow you to carefully clean inside.

• There is an indentation on the bottom you can put your finger in, then slide the bottom door back. There is a battery holder and a place to store the usb dongle.

• Not sure that you can open it up. You can push the trackball out and clean it, I just us a pencil's eraser end to push through the hole on the bottom of the mouse. I only see one on the bottom, I wouldn't think that just the one screw would be enough.
