I'm not sure I understand the question. You should be able to plug the USB into your PC, turn your mouse to the "on" position and have it operate no problems.

I just wrote a review of this mouse, talking about how the pointer is jumpy and doesn't track smoothly on the screen for me. I prefer the Logitech M705 which does not have this problem at all and always tracks smoothly on the screen.
