“Will this machine use hot water to make the water in the tub hot during the wash when the temperature setting is hot? My last washer would only get the temp to luke warm during the hot cycle. My next washer needs to get the water hot during the hot cycle.”

Yes, when hit is selected the water is hot. When I use hot I see the steam come thru the door. Maybe check the temperature on your hot water heater.
