This machine is much louder than my older maytag.  I think it is quite loud.

Our washer and dryer are in a "laundry closet" very close to the living room behind bifold doors. When you install the washer, you need to make sure there is enough space behind the washer so that the water lines don't touch the back of the machine. Otherwise, the vibration of the machine causes the water lines to bang on the back. We had to do a little finagling to do this in such a limited space. We use the "FAST" spin on the clothes so that they come out much drier. When we finally got the washer properly positioned, it is not very loud when the doors are closed. The initial spin cycle can be a little noisy, but as soon as the fast spin gets going, it it is much quieter. No washer or dryer is going to be silent, but at least I don't have to raise the volume on the TV.
