• Mine had the light around the top while it’s charging. Could it be you have it in charger upside down?

• Eventually rechargeable batteries no longer take a charge. Tried to remove cover to see it I can access and replace batteries, but cannot get cover off. New opener is not much more expensive than replacement batteries. I am going to look at openers powered by standard batteries instead
