what do you mean by saying the phone is unlocked? null

You should be able to use this phone with any major phone provider like to swap phones if you have Sprint, TMobile, or Verizon. I used mine to activate my prepaid Kroger Wireless which uses TMobile. But could just as easily activated for straight talk or boost. That's what unlocked means any network provider.
