Intel does not support 4.0 pci. Until the 11th gen chips. 30 series will work in 3.0

Please try again later.According to the MSI Specifications page (https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z490-GAMING-EDGE-WIFI/Specification), the fastest PCIe connection supported is 3.0. This said, PCIe 4.0 cards are backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0 capable motherboards, so while you wouldn't get the full advantages of buying a 4.0 card, it would still work in this motherboard (but buying a Ferrari to drive in the slow lane wouldn't make a lot of sense). Either up the motherboard or go with a slightly less cutting edge graphics card would be my recommendation. I built a computer using this motherboard, a 10-700 intel processor, and an RTX 2060 card and it's been a fantastic build.
