“is there a service "monthly" fee through google? Or is it just the wifi service at the house i would need to pay for?”

You just need WiFi. No monthly fee from Google.

There are no monthly fees to use Nest Audio but you will need an internet connection from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Also, keep in mind that some apps may require subscriptions.
