You need a Modem first connected to your Internet Cable from the wall, then you may connect the Switch with an Ethernet Cable to the Modem, the Switch is only to allow you and connect multiple devices through the multiple Ethernet ports on the Switch. Consider it an Ethernet splitter, hope that helps!
