You should be able to. This is a throughput device which ONLY splits the signal between multiple ethernet cables, nothing more. It should not matter where it's put in the system. If you put it directly after the modem, you should be able to hook up two routers. Keep in mind, however, they will be on a shared connection, so each one may have only half the normal speed, depending on the amount of "traffic" you have going through each.
