• Does not matter. Ports of today auto switch for crossover.

• All the lan ports are the same so it does not matter.

• On older devices, it used to matter which port, but it no longer does. Plug it into any port you like, it will adjust accordingly. It doesn't need a crossover cable or anything.

• Any port will do. There is no "uplink" designated on this unit. I would also assume that you could not use a cross over cable unless the device at the other end is capable.
