It is powered by a standard power adapter, but I've read that this one does not support POE. To be sure you know you are getting the right one for your needs, search specifically for "POE supported Ethernet adapter". That should point you in the right direction.

No, this is not power over ethernet. This switch simply gives you more ports to run and ethernet cable from. Since most ISP modem/routers only provide you with a couple of ethernet connections; adding this swithch simply gives you more ethernet ports to work with.
