No, this is not WiFi. Basically you plug in a network wire (Ethernet) from your modem, and this device splits (or multiplies it) to have more outputs. For a non tech person, think of it as a power strip for internet.

The router feeds the network/Internet source through Ethernet while also broadcasting WiFI for tablets/phones/other devices not using Ethernet. Repeat: This switch is NOT a WiFi broadcaster.
