Well it depends upon where everything is. You should position this device "midway" between where your router is and the current dead zone. Then it can connect to your existing wifi and extend it into the area that doesn't have good coverage. I can see and connect to it thru a couple of walls and a floor. Regular US frame construction although one wall is a 2x6 wall instead of a 2x4 wall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Within your house this should work beyond excellent. It really doesn't have anything to do with your modem. Is your modem already connected to a WiFi router? That's what it's boosting.... the WiFi signal. It's not boosting anything to do with the modem...... Unless you have a modem with a built-in WiFi signal. Read my review....... I got this extender to extend my WiFi signal over 400 feet with big trees in between!!! It's amazing!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have had a lot of success with this product. I live in a house that is 117 years old. We are able to access full strength access in every room with no difficulties.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In the installation process you are instructed that walls and other structure may degrade strength of signal which may necessitate moving this to another spot. I had to move to a different spot than originally intended, but the move did not cause any computer , tv tablet or other internet device to not work . Original wireless xfinity is in a bedroom on first floor, new device is in a bedroom on the second floor not in direct line of sight of xfinity wireless. .
