I saw the same thing when I bought my NetGear EX7300, Ac2200, Nighthawk X-4 . When setting it up I went to www.mywifiext.net and found the NetGear Genie and somewhere along the line it will tell you what your Firmware Version is if you click on the right button. Mine said version 1.0.2.140 and that was the latest version at the time so it was up to date just out of the box. Before you set it up for the first time, my NetGear customer Service rep said to do a factory reset with the paperclip especially since I had tried to set it up myself unsuccessfully. He likes to do a Factory Reset just out of the box so he knows what he is working with.
