• My Nighthawk is in a low wall outlet and works fine. It is probably determined by how far you are from the router or how much structure is in the way as to how well it receives the signal. The setup instructions walk you through where you might place it.

• It plugs directly into an electrical outlet, so the position is going to be dependent on the height of your wall outlets.
