A:AnswerYes.
This device does require a modem.
The combination of the two devices (at this time) are working very well for our house (five people with multiple devices).
A:AnswerCurrently we have 2 5Ghz bands and 1 2.4Ghz band. It's been great thus far and it has allowed us to make things separate from kids to adult items
A:AnswerIm currently using it for a 2 floor house, have it set on the top floor center of the house. The 5g reaches all the rooms. And the regular reaches out up to the driveway and a lil further. I have a office departed from my house by give or take 35ft and it reaches in there fairly well.
A:AnswerIts not router compatibility that should concern you , almost any router will work . you should make sure you have a newer giga bit capable router to take advantage of the increased band width .
A:AnswerYou could use more specifics since the answer depends on variables you’ve left unknown. For instance, is it 500 feet, meters, yards? Is the garage attached or is it separated? But let’s assume it’s feet and an attached garage. Most routers would be capable of handling the space for WiFi. You could also try a WiFi extender in the garage or nearby. I would look over the owners manual if you could since you likely could manage your WiFi in the garage with what you currently have as a router, which also is left unknown by your request seeking advice. Good luck and I hope this helps even if just a little.
A:AnswerDo a factory reset on your router, power down router, power down your modem, make sure you are connected from the modem to the internet jack on you router, not the out ports. If everything is hooked up properly, power up modem and let it boot all the way. Once it’s booted up, then power on router. If everything is hooked correctly then it should work. If not, either it’s a bad cable or bad service provider, or the router is bad. If you power everything down and hook straight to modem and power modem back up and you get internet then it could be router, or you need to check network settings in computer.
