The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera can focus automatically when using using AF-S, AF-P or E-type lenses, as each of these types of lenses has a built-in autofocus motor. Some DSLR camera bodies have a built-in focus motor and can use AF-type lenses in addition to the previously mentioned lens types. There are also cameras that are considered to be all automatic, or point and shoot, that do not use interchangeable lenses. The Nikon D3400 listed here comes with an AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens that will autofocus when you press the camera's shutter-release button down halfway.
