“I see in the specifications of this coffee maker that it makes cold brew coffee. Does it really brew the coffee cold, or does it brew it hot and then I have to wait for it to become cold? If it is the latter, the taste will be sour.”

It doesn't make cold brew.... you need temperatures below 40 degrees and at least 24 hours to make cold brew. There are plenty of cold brew sets for less than 30 bucks that you can use. Not sure how you expect to make cold brew with a drip coffee maker...
