• Not that much at all where the two lids meet together can get kind a hot but as for heat, it does not put out looking oven

• No. Not really. I mean don't lay plastic wrap on it while using it but I've been using mine for about 2 years and the only time I got burned was when I stupidly reached in with my hand. It's never melted anything but the top metal bit, the vent, does get hot but that's it.
