- Answer The only way I've found is to connect a computer via USB cord, go to the folder with the locked file and right-click on file, then select 'Properties'. When the properties box opens you'll see the box for 'Read-Only' is checked. Click to uncheck and the file is now unlocked.

- Answer No this is a Digital Recorder that saves the files in internal memory. Olympus has not manufactured Microcassette recorders for well over 15 years.

QuestionHi. My recorder has become unresponsive when switched on? It flashes with the date but none of the buttons will do anything apart from record. After around 2 minutes the Recorder beeps & goes to the home screen but remains unresponsive to any button input

QuestionAfter about 3 months of continuous recording and removing the files off the device to my comp. I noticed the time line (length of recording) is beginning to get WAY shorter I am formatting it many times and it's now at approx 3 hours record time. Fix?

QuestionWhen I plug the MicroUSB cable into my Mac or PC neither computer recognizes the recorder. On the screen of the recorder "PC" flashes on and off, though. How can I get my computer to recognize the recorder?

- Answer I would 1st verify that the USB cable you're using is a known working DATA Cable. That test can done by successfully transferring data to / from another device, like your cell phone. If you've using one of those cheaper USB cables you find at the check-out lines at the grocery store, it may be just a charge-only USB cable. A charge-only cable has only 2 internal wires, compared to a data/charge cable which has 4. (2 for power, 2 for data sync). Note, lust looking at the end connectors is not a sure way to tell. Hope that helps.

- Answer Please see Page 41 in the Manual at the following Link https://learnandsupport.getolympus.com/sites/default/files/media/files/2018/04/VN541PC_EN_U01.pdf In theory the Maximum recording per single file in LP mode is 148 hrs However in reality you are really limited 60 Hrs because the batteries will run out first.
