I would go with the HP's spec sheet, this is a gen 1 and not 2, meaning max speed 5gb. The Best Buy listing has an error claiming the USB 3.1 is 10gb speed which make it gen 2, that also according to the spec sheet is gen 1 and 5gb max speed. I only found this out after buying the laptop but still think it is a great value especially if you buy it now on sale because it has the rx580 at 8gb which is slightly better the the gtx 1060.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have exactly the same question. The short answer is yes. This particular 17-AN012DX came with Thunderbolt option. If you consult the manual. https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/omen-by-hp-17-an000-laptop-pc/15551440/model/17106304/manuals You'll find that this mid-2017 omen came with 2 port variants. See page 4-7. The lower spec. variant get a different label at the type-c port. This one is a thunderbolt variant. I also found out from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUDjt4gjMO4 that the thunderbolt is an 20$ option when you customized it from HP. Sadly, this laptop came with 60hz panel. I would happily shell out 60$ for 120Hz panel ..SADDD Now, for the critical question, do we get 40Gbps from the port?? I really have no idea, or instrument to check that..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This has a USB type C 3.1 port.
