OK, I had already responded to this question, but I dug around a bit more. The page that shows the specs of this motherboard do indeed show an optical out, but it has an astric next to it, and it says " * : Option not available with this Motherboard". Here is the link to the motherboard page with pictures. Click on the I/O ports and it will show you the outputs on the board. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06124984
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That's strange. I have not received mine yet to verify, but the board is pretty basic, with three audio inputs on the back, and no optical is shown on the board specs. I wish it did have optical as I listed to music on my computer which is hooked up to my stereo through the optical. I plan on switching out the HP motherboard with one that has an optical built into the board, or at least one extra PCI express slot as this HP board only has one, and that's for the video card. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well the specs listed on the site as well as the pictures do not show any optical output at all? Are you sure the box is correct model? Seem to just see that it has 2 headphone jacks. One on back and one on the upper front area.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to the specifications here: it should have an optical port above the USB port. https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c06125965 Here is a picture of the motherboard: https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c06124984
