Hello --- Unfortunately, you will need a tv to connect to go through the initial setup. Once you connect the tv and go through the setup there is way disable it so that it will not turn back on when you put the receiver into standby. You can refer to page 137 within the owner’s manual if you would like to go back into the initial setup to setup the receiver. Thank you Onkyo
