You should reach out to Onkyo support at https://www.onkyousa.com/contact-support/ to get the distortion level answer. I sent a couple of questions to them using that website before my recent purchase of the TX-NR696. They got back to me the same day. They also have a telephone number, if you prefer: 800-229-1687 (9-5 EST). After a couple of follow up questions, I purchased the unit and I absolutely love it. I upgraded my old Onkyo Ampli-tuner AV HT-RG10(B) AV receiver and it was LONG overdue!
