it has 3 zones. we have 1 room with surround sound then 2 speakers outside and 2 speakers in another room. glad we upgraded.

As of today I am not able to figure out how to run Zone 2 and will be visiting best buy for some answers. My zone 2 is for outside speakers in back yard.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, i had my tech set it up, i have outside patio speakers and living room set up to the reciever. If you want you can wire mutiple rooms that play the same station. I think the nr696 reciever only can do two zones, but mutiple speakers. Im not an expert, just what my tech told me.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes to use speakers in other rooms the speakers need to be routed to the Onkyo TXNR696. To use it in different rooms with out a other source receiver with a Input for audio to add speakers in other rooms. TV's with a digital signal out for audio can be used for this purpose also!
