“Can I utilize the video pass through on the receiver without having sound come out of the unit and just run off of TV speakers? Goal: Want to watch TV at night without waking the wife and kids when they are sleeping.”

There is an hdmi passthrough mode as a standby option setting that is for that purpose. The onkyo is off but the hdmi goes to the tv

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the video pass through for my cable tv. You could change sound modes to direct or mono and it won't have that surround sound. I actually work night and when I'm home at night. I watch through my Xbox and listen with headphones. I hope that helps you. I do really like this receiver. Watched Joker and in Atmos was better than being in theater in my opinion if you have the proper setup
