You can definitely project on a wall. This is how we watch TV everyday. The unit allows you to even choose the color of the background you're projecting on in order to make the colors better. Save the money and the hassle of a screen. I did a lot of research and couldn't find any real reason to justify the expense of the screen especially after using it without one and the picture is perfect. If you're buying a sub $500 projector you won't benefit enough from a screen to get your money's worth.
