“What is the best way to get highest quality sound to a 5.1 theatre system? I read something about a transmitter, would that make the audio 5.1 capable? And will lip sync latency be bad? Thanks in advance!”

that is all dependent on your video source. I would hook up my sound system to whatever is providing the source not the projector
