Distance from the broadcast tower or towers is a large factor in receiving local channels, not cities per say. The satelite signal portion will work in a rural setting equally as well as the suburbs or big cities. We are almost 40 miles from a large cluster of biadcast towers and get considerably more local station than what were delivered by our two previous pay tv companies.
