I purchased this receiver at the Best Buy in Duluth, GA and I have to say, I will never pay a cable company again. Why has this product not been released before? I was paying $180 a month when first heard about this product. Now with Orby I pay $50 and save $130 each month. The installer was very professional, and went through the entire install process with me, as well as explained the guide, which in my opinion looks better than many other providers. This is on the main viewing TV in my house and the picture looks great. I have over 50 local channels, plus the satellite channels, and although I will always keep the subscribed channels, it is refreshing to know that I am not in contract and can cancel anytime. I plan on heading back to the store to purchase 3 more for the rest of my house.

So I will start with I purchased the orbit dvr. I had set up the instulation. Took off work and nobody showed up. Ok so we rescheduled for a week later. I took off work agian and no show. Really. Ok let's try for another week out for a day I am off. Installer Finnaly showed up this time 3 weeks out. He came to install the satellite and had no tools. Omg really and your the pro. Ok I have some tools you can use. Finally we get it up and running. I live 50 miles south of kc. The antenna picked up 46 channels. Awesome. But I got a 150 mile range anntana that is remote controlled and the installer couldn't hook it up for me. Bummer. As for the rest of the paid programming. Well it picks up the paid programming 3/4 ths of the time. On cloudy days nothing but the anntana channels. On clear days it works but seems to lag like it's buffering. Not continues like the antenna. And then there are days like today where it's very windy, yes some clouds but not many. I can still see the sun casting shadows and I can't get anything but the anntana channels. It says ( No Satellite Signal )... Customer service is awesome. There the best thing out of the whole package. If you are looking for a low budget satellite tv, it's ok. I only got this because I wanted to get rid of roku. Well guess what I'm watching right now because I can't get satellite channels. Yup roku. I would recommend this if you can't get any other tv where you live

This is a good quality receiver.But It will only become functional upon subscribing to Orby subscription service and installation of an antenna and satellite dish by Orby. The antenna provided with the $150.00 installation is a low quality short range type.If you live in a fringe area,then this antenna will not be ideal.Still,for the price,the installation is a good value.The subscription service,having no contract,is very reasonable.

I bought 2 receivers and 1 DVR receiver and I am very pleased with the ease of satellite dish and receivers setup (did an Orby dish self-install), overall picture quality, and great value for the number of channels provided. If you can watch sports through other means, e.g., over the air broadcasts or streaming, I highly recommend this service. I'm hoping they add a few more high definition channels in the future, e.g., HLN in in standard def, however on smaller screens, e.g., 40", you really don't see much difference in resolution from a distance...and it's just the news.

My family got Orby Tv because we didn't want to deal with the expensive packages from Direct TV or Dish. The best way for me to explan it is, it like Cricket Wireless but for satellite tv. You buy your equipment (no rental fees), and then pick between the 2 packages ($40 or $50, taxes included) and add movie/premium channels if you want. That's it! Cancel when you want, or start back when you want. We pay $50 and my family is happy. Don't need 50 million channels that we arent going to watch or complain about nothing being on. The only down side is the installation company...... Took 2 tries to get them out for the dish installation, but after that, we're cooler than a polar bears toenails!

We have use this for 2months now, saved money, good picture, many stations, can change add on easy ,real good prices, I have 3 receivers, one has DVR, 2 cost $99.00,no DVR one with DVR 199.00. cost for install , was $150.00 you must have to have one box for each TV. Our service hooked up to same wires, new Dish for ORBY, Real happy good reception,no problems,Can buy these at Best Buy.

I bought the receiver and the professional install. My area has 53 local channels available. The antenna supplied by ORBY would not pick them up. I had to buy two indoor digital antennas in order to get my local channels. When I called customer service at ORBY they were kinda rude. They said they don’t guarantee local channels it depends on what is available in your area. My point is the local channels are available, their antenna is junk. Also the remote has small buttons which are difficult for my 80 year old father. ORBY will not work with any universal remotes which is frustrating for him.

Was told when we bought the original that it would work for two rooms but turns out we had to buy the second one as well. The ORBY service isn't quite up to par.

I’m in my first apartment so money is tight. I decided that I could finally afford to get TV. But I knew I couldn’t spend very much each month. I saved up to buy the receiver and get installation. But now I can count on ONLY $40 a month. I like that I get local channels and specialty channels. I love my FOOD network, CNN and local channels. And, if I have a tight month, I can turn it off until I have the money to spend. I also like that they didn’t do a credit check because I don’t have ANY credit right now.

Purchased a single receiver on sale and waited for a couple months and caught the self install kit on sale with a receiver as well. Took me about an hour for the install but I am an electrician so running the RG6 was a sinch. Typed in my address on dishpointer.com and set everything. Checked it with the V8 finder that came with the kit in the sale (normally sold separately) 99% SS 93 SQ on the first try. As of right now we are very pleased with Orby. Even get all my locals with the antenna they provided. If your looking for a cheaper alternative to Dish or Direct then this is it!!

Hand remote hard to hold onto, so that you can operate with one hand. Need better hand held remote

The reciever is great....however, the remote is terrible! You have be within 5 feet and directly in front of the reciever to use it....the favorite button is minuscule and difficult to find as well.

Just got my Orby TV installed and activated and love it!! Get over 100 local channels and a ton of great cable channels for a flat $40 per month....no crazy taxes and fees tacked on....and no ridiculous contract to sign!! Saving over $100 per month in cable bill. Picture and sound quality is amazing. Couldn't be happier.

I've only been using this a week but so far, no major issues. It has all the channels I wanted in a package (plus a couple of extras) but no sports, music, or home shopping networks that I didn't want or watch. I think it's a great price for the package I have. I got the $50 package for the Hallmark Channels. (I had been waiting for Orby to get Hallmark so that I could drop Directv --after 20+ years)

For those who do not want to spend $$$ on cable service and do not want to be reliant on your internet service, Orby may be the answer. Got this @ 40% off list price plus $25 installation of the dish and an outdoor OTA antenna to one room. The receiver is small, does not take up shelf space but disappointed with the guide. It lists all channels, even the ones you do not get. You can weed them out by selecting favorites but have to use button every time to get to them. Should be set it and forget it... Monthly cost is beaten by other services but can stop and start without penalties.

The Orby TV Satelitte Receiver works good with a few exceptions. I purchased 3 systems and in each case I must use both the remote for the TV and the remote for the Orby system to control the volume or the change channels. Orby customer service says that their remote doesn't work with all TV's; however, I have 3-different name brand TV's and it is the same case with each. Receiving the program information has also been less than desirable, for the entire month of June I have had to call customer service over and over again to resolve the issue.

Receiver works as it should. Great value for programming! Disappointed in scheduling of installation. I had an 8 to 12 noon appointment. Installer didn't show up until 5:15pm.
