It is like Directv in that the pay channels come through a satellite dish. Orby TV is a no contract service though, so that's different because you pay for the equipment and install up front. As for the antenna, when you buy the install package the installer doesn't just bring a satellite dish, they also bring an outdoor TV antenna and attach it to the dish. The antenna signals and satellite dish signals are combined and sent through one cable to the set top box. They do this so that you don't have to pay for local channels and you get them even if you don't pay for the Orby packages.
