- Answer Hello. We do not recommend this type of usage as there may be issues with interferences. Should you still wish to use the other telephone set, make sure that only one answering machine is turned on. – G

QuestionI see there is an on/talk button as well as an off button. Does the phone also shut off when placed on the base? I am buying this for my mom who is having trouble remembering to press the off button when done talking and then the line is open.
