From my experience if not careful when removing from computer the drive can easily be corrupted.

Please try again later.It is not that a flash drive is not good for archival storage; rather it is that it can be easily lost or damaged, than a more traditional external drive. I am also not certain whether you can save programs or apps to a flash drive as costs effective as an external drive.
