I think the instructions said to wash off the sticky part.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.At first I thought it was suction that held it to phone but it comes with a very strong adhesive already attached to the Pop Socket. Peel the protective paper off and apply firmly to phone where you want to mount it.
