“I want to pair this with an Amazon echo dot. Some speakers have an auto shutoff, which means that you have to physically turn on the speaker in order to use it with the dot. Will this speaker remain on at all times or does it have auto shutoff?”

Yes unfortunately it does thats exactly what I wanted to do and a lot of Bluetooth speaker are made that way

It does shut off after by itself if not used for sometime.

No auto shutoff. On off switch but remember it is battery or usb powered.
