The surround sound option is only when hooked up to a PC. It is emulated through software. Not an option when hooked up to a console system.

These are excellent sounding stereo headsets. They do not have 5.1, 7.1 DTS or whatever format you listen to but you would be hard pressed to not enjoy the sound quality.

Yes , 7.1 surround sound for PC gaming, however you have to download the software. 
For Xbox 1 it has 5.1 Surround sound built in.

Yes, but it's simulated through stereo drivers (virtual 7.1). most people would argue the simulated is the better way to go.
