Hello. Good question. Any of the Ring battery doorbells can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer for trickle charging (8-24 VAC, 40 VA max, 50/60 Hz) or can be connected to a Ring plug-in adapter. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) runs on a built-in battery, while the other battery doorbells run on a removable, rechargeable, Quick-Release Battery Pack.
