• The center of your TV will match the center of the wall plate. Locate the stud. Verify the center of the stud with an edge-to-edge stud finder. The minimum distance between fasteners cannot be less than 16 in. (406 mm).

• Yes, the slots at the top and bottom allow you to slide it left or right. If you put your screw in the stud that is offset a little, align it so that it is in the middle of the slot that way you can adjust it left or right for the other side. Also the brackets that go on the TV can also slide left or right on the mount.
